Major Securities Newspapers See Clear Bottoming Signs and Value in Chinese Equities

Highlights

China’s A-share market has recently moved through a consolidation phase, but commentary across four major securities newspapers points to increasingly visible signs of a market bottom. Analysts say valuations have fallen below historical averages, while short-term trading may remain uneven and selective. Dividend-paying stocks can provide a measure of support, provided investors assess cash flow, earnings stability, and valuation rather than relying on yield alone. The reports also highlight China’s technology supply chain, expanding domestic computing capacity, and improving corporate earnings prospects. Taken together, these factors underpin the view that A-shares have meaningful medium- and long-term investment appeal, even as near-term volatility continues.

Sentiment Analysis

  • Overall tone: Constructively positive. The reports describe the market as showing bottoming characteristics and argue that current valuations offer investment appeal.

  • Valuation outlook: Analysts cited in the coverage believe aggregate A-share valuations have fallen below historical averages. This supports a more favorable medium- to long-term assessment, although it does not rule out further short-term fluctuations.

  • Income strategy: Dividend assets are presented as potentially defensive, but the discussion is qualified: a high dividend yield alone does not guarantee a high return. Sustainability, business fundamentals, and valuation all matter.

  • Structural growth: The account of domestic AI infrastructure and technology development adds an optimistic element, with reported shipment and computing-capacity figures pointing to rapid expansion.

  • Investor confidence: Private fund managers’ purchases with their own capital are described as a signal of confidence in the market’s long-term prospects.

  • Balance of risks: The outlook is not uniformly bullish. The market remains volatile, and the source emphasizes consolidation and selective opportunities rather than an immediate, uninterrupted rise.

On October 27, four major Chinese securities newspapers published assessments of the A-share market as it continued to consolidate amid volatility. Their commentaries generally took a constructive view of the market’s prospects. Analysts and investment institutions pointed to valuations, dividend-paying companies, technology-sector development, and improving corporate fundamentals as reasons the market may offer attractive opportunities. They also cautioned, in different ways, that near-term conditions remain unsettled and that investment choices require selectivity.

The China Securities Journal reported that repeated market fluctuations had brought A-share valuations to relatively low levels. Analysts cited in its coverage said aggregate valuations had fallen below historical averages. They also considered valuations attractive in both cross-market and historical comparisons. On that basis, the report argued against excessive pessimism, while noting that short-term trading could be characterized by consolidation around a potential bottom and by opportunities concentrated in particular sectors or companies.

The Shanghai Securities News focused on dividend-paying assets, which had shown relative strength as the Shanghai Composite Index stabilized, recovered, and closed higher. A research report from Kaiyuan Securities described high-dividend investing as a strategy that may use continuing distributions to provide a buffer while seeking gains from a recovery in company fundamentals. The report emphasized, however, that a high dividend yield should not be treated as equivalent to a high total return.

Instead, the research outlined three criteria for assessing dividend stocks. First, distributions should be sustainable and supported by sound free cash flow. Second, the company’s fundamentals should be stable, with earnings either having reached a low point or showing signs of improvement. Third, the valuation should provide a margin of safety, so that an elevated share price does not erode the benefit of dividend income. The central qualification is that dividend yield needs to be evaluated alongside cash generation, earnings conditions, and valuation.

The Securities Daily highlighted what it described as the accumulation of positive factors and a firmer foundation in the A-share market. Fang Yi, chief strategy analyst at Guotai Haitong, told the newspaper that China’s technology sector has a more independent development narrative. In his view, domestic efforts to build capabilities across the technology chain—including computing chips, complete systems, and models—are accelerating.

Figures attributed to IDC (International Data Corporation) showed that China’s data-center AI accelerator shipments totaled 200.8万颗 in the first half of 2026. Shipments of non-GPU (graphics processing unit) accelerators reached 101.6万颗, an increase of nearly 80% year over year; the reported scale temporarily exceeded GPU shipments. The report also said domestic intelligent-computing capacity had reached 2592EFLOPS (hundred quadrillion floating-point operations per second) by the end of September 2026, representing year-over-year growth of 146%.

The same account described domestic large models as becoming more deeply adapted to local computing resources. It characterized the industry’s focus as shifting from filling capability gaps toward building an independent ecosystem. These developments were presented as part of a wider technology-sector narrative, rather than as a guarantee of investment returns. The newspaper’s broader conclusion was that A-share pricing is increasingly anchored to medium- and long-term fundamentals, making the market’s allocation value clearer despite ongoing fluctuations.

The Securities Times reported that several well-known private investment firms, including Gao Yi Asset, Hongshang Asset, and China Europe Richbridge, had recently issued views on the market. Their assessments considered valuations, interest rates, corporate earnings, industrial competitiveness, and institutional factors. The institutions argued that China’s long-term economic competitiveness remains solid, corporate profitability is approaching improvement, and pessimistic expectations have already been substantially reflected in share prices. They therefore viewed equity valuations as appealing.

The report also noted that multiple private fund managers had begun purchasing their own products with personal or firm capital. Such investments were presented as an expression of confidence in the capital market’s longer-term prospects. Overall, the four newspapers offered a favorable but qualified assessment: low relative valuations, potentially improving fundamentals, domestic technology development, and investor commitments support a constructive long-term case, while volatility and the need for careful selection remain important features of the current market.
