Vertu has unveiled the Alphafold, a new foldable smartphone aimed at business executives who need to manage operations and communications while on the move. The device combines a luxury hardware approach — with finishes that range from calfskin to bespoke options such as alligator leather, 18K gold, and diamond accents — with enterprise-oriented AI functionality. Pricing begins at $6,880 for the calfskin variant, while more highly customized models can reach tens of thousands of dollars.



The Alphafold ships with Hermes Agent, an AI agent built upon the open-source Hermes project by Nous Research. This agent is designed to connect with enterprise systems like ERP and CRM platforms and to handle tasks such as approvals, scheduling, sales tracking, travel planning, and operational reporting through natural-language prompts. Vertu says integrations such as Phone-to-ERP and VPS will be tailored to each customer’s existing systems, with deployment details and pricing varying accordingly.



Technically, the Alphafold routes requests across multiple AI models, including offerings from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and selected open-source alternatives, and integrates with more than 80 third-party apps plus native phone functions to enable cross-platform workflows. It includes a 6,500mAh battery, satellite communication support, and a triple rear camera array led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor plus ultrawide and telephoto lenses. The hinge uses metal, titanium, and carbon fiber components and is rated for up to 650,000 folds, reflecting durability claims that aim to reassure prospective buyers.



The Alphafold follows Vertu’s earlier AI-focused foldable, Agent Q, introduced as a clamshell device. According to Vertu’s CEO, the Alphafold represents a step forward in AI-agent maturity, with improvements in memory, automation, and integration that enable more capable enterprise workflows.
