The Taiwan AI Academy (AIA) has embarked on a groundbreaking venture with Meta to launch the country's inaugural set of educational resources centered on responsible AI literacy. This partnership aims to solidify the base of Taiwan's AI ecosystem by disseminating these learning materials across educational campuses, community centers, and public service sectors.

Arthur Chen, the General Manager of Public Policy at Meta Taiwan, highlighted the pivotal role of users and developers within the digital ecosystem. Through this collaborative effort with the Taiwan AI Academy, and supported by broad community engagement, the hope is to steer AI application development in a positive direction.

AIA's CEO, Ling-Chih Chen, revealed that the creation of these educational materials was the result of nearly a year of diligent preparation. This joint endeavor with Meta brought together more than 3,000 experts, community members, students, and educators to formulate a bottom-up open-source curriculum. This curriculum represents a collective innovation effort, ensuring diverse contributions and rigorous testing.

The initiative has garnered support from various academic and governmental bodies, including Taipei City Government, Kaohsiung City Government Education Bureau, National Chengchi University, and others. It aims to cultivate AI literacy among 200,000 citizens, supported by strategic collaborations with 14 organizations spanning industry, government, and academia.

In addition, Meta and the Taiwan AI Academy commit to ongoing dialogue with experts, scholars, and stakeholders both domestically and internationally, to create a dynamic, responsible AI literacy learning network that integrates both responsibility and innovation.

Since its founding in 2018, the Taiwan AI Academy has developed over 11,000 alumni across 1,500 companies, all of which have integrated AI into sectors ranging from semiconductors to healthcare. Through the 'Correct Use of AI' literacy program, AIA endeavors to embed AI literacy into everyday contexts, championing an open-source, collaborative ethos and fostering widespread participation.
