North Korea announced a sudden prohibition on foreign visitors at the newly established Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone, located along its eastern coastline. Officially opened on 1 July, the resort is crucial to Kim Jong Un's visions for enhancing tourism. This development was initially promoted to attract both local and overseas guests, but recent statements on the national tourism platform have stopped foreign attendance, branding it as a 'temporary' measure.

Reports emerged about Russian tourists visiting the site recently, coinciding with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's engagement with Kim Jong Un in Wonsan.
